Innovating Together for a Shared Future-Successful Roundtable Conference on the 10th Anniversary of HUHST-BSU Joint Education


 

On September 18, 2024, Innovating Together for a Shared Future, the roundtable conference on the 10th anniversary of HUHST-BSU joint education program, was successfully held in the No.1 Lecture Hall of HUHST Library. The event was attended by Deputy Party Secretary and President Sheng Mingke, Party Committee Member and Vice President Chen Yong, and a delegation from Bath Spa University (BSU), along with heads of relevant functional departments of HUHST.

 

Mr. Sheng Mingke extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation from BSU. He highlighted that the ten years of friendly cooperation between the two institutions have provided HUHST students with a broad platform for learning and development, injecting fresh vitality into HUHSTs international development. Reflecting on the past decade, he emphasized how both universities have navigated a path filled with challenges and opportunities, moving from the exchange of ideas to deep collaboration, and witnessing student growth, discipline development, and advancements in scientific research. Looking ahead, Mr. Sheng expressed hope that the two universities will further strengthen cooperation in discipline development, talent cultivation, and scientific research, explore innovative educational models, expand areas of collaboration, and strengthen ties in emerging and frontier disciplines. He envisioned these efforts contributing to enhancing HUHST’s international profile and fostering greater exchange between Sino-UK educational and cultural sectors.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor John Strachan from BSU expressed his gratitude for our warm hospitality. He emphasized the BSU delegations commitment to the joint education program and optimism for the future. Prof. Strachan noted that the cooperation with HUHST has been a fruitful exploration, promoting academic exchange and fostering mutual cultural understanding between China and the UK. He also proposed further discussions on renewing the cooperation agreement, looking forward to entering the third phase of the joint education program, which would include scientific research, student exchanges, and faculty visits.

Following the speeches, both sides engaged in preliminary negotiations for a new round of cooperation agreements, focusing on the details of the cooperation agreement and exploring cooperation in other professional fields.
